Privacy Policy

In short: QuillCap processes AI conversation text to extract facts and build knowledge graphs. We do not sell your data, we do not track your browsing, and we only access pages you explicitly choose to analyze.

1. What QuillCap Does

QuillCap is a Chrome extension that extracts key facts from AI chatbot conversations (such as ChatGPT and Claude) and visualizes them as an interactive knowledge graph. It helps you organize and retain insights from your AI interactions.

2. Information We Collect

Conversation text you choose to analyze: When you click the QuillCap extension icon or trigger fact extraction on a supported AI chatbot page, the extension reads the conversation content from that page. This text is sent to our backend server for processing.

Account information: If you sign in to QuillCap, we collect your email address and basic profile information provided through Google authentication, solely for account creation and session management.

Extracted facts and knowledge graph data: The structured facts and knowledge graph generated from your conversations are stored in our database so you can access them across sessions.

Local preferences: Settings such as theme preferences and selected AI platforms are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not track your browsing history or activity on any website.
We do not read or access any page content unless you explicitly trigger fact extraction.
We do not collect analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking data.
We do not collect financial or payment information.

4. How We Use Your Information

Fact extraction: Conversation text is sent to our backend (hosted on AWS Lambda) and processed using OpenAI's API to extract structured facts. The raw conversation text is not permanently stored on our servers — only the extracted facts are retained.
Knowledge graph generation: Extracted facts are stored in our database (Supabase) to build and display your personal knowledge graph.
Authentication: Account information is used solely to identify your account and sync your data across sessions.

5. Third-Party Services

QuillCap uses the following third-party services to function:

OpenAI API: Conversation text is sent to OpenAI for natural language processing and fact extraction. OpenAI's data usage policies apply to this processing. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
Supabase: Used for user authentication and database storage. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
Amazon Web Services (AWS): Our backend is hosted on AWS Lambda. See AWS Privacy Policy.

We do not share, sell, or transfer your data to any other third parties.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your extracted facts and account data are stored in a secure Supabase database with row-level security enabled. Communication between the extension and our backend is encrypted via HTTPS. Local data stored in Chrome's storage API remains on your device and is governed by Chrome's security model.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email address below. Upon receiving a deletion request, we will remove all your data from our systems within 30 days.

8. Chrome Extension Permissions

QuillCap requests the following browser permissions, each for a specific purpose:

activeTab: To read conversation content from the AI chatbot page you are currently viewing, only when you trigger the extension.
scripting: To inject a content script that reads conversation text from supported AI chatbot pages.
storage: To save your local preferences and cached data in the browser.
tabs: To detect when you navigate to a supported AI chatbot page and indicate extension availability.
identity: To enable Google-based sign-in for account authentication.
Host permissions: To access specific AI chatbot domains for conversation extraction.

9. Children's Privacy

QuillCap is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of QuillCap after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
